Merely a warm-up for (and a walk in the park compared to) the sequels. Released in 1986, directed by Ichirō Itano.
This is my internet archeology project dedicated to nerdy out-of-print unknown undiscovered underground un-everything faggotry and etceteras relevant to my intrests. And rock. It's a good thing!

remember seeing the OVA's from Manga Entertainment when i found them in some discount dollar bin. blew my mind. i had been familiar with Nagai from Getter Robo which is weird in it's own way... but this is something else. would kill to be able to buy translated versions of the manga... would love to see the whole devilman/jack story unfold before my eyes.
I remember seeing an OVA a looong~ time ago. Was kinda cool, in its campy way. Go Nagai knows where it's at. :) (but I like Devilman infinitely more)
I bought two of the OVAs from a used book store in Chattanooga, TN, USA of all places and I've been very happy with them unfortunately I believe this is one that I don't have.
Anybody seen the one where he throws a helicopter? Ridiculous but epic that's how Nagai has always been for me.
Nice to see a new Kurutta post, been a while, eh?
@Jeremy: It is even more fun with Manga's dub. Some parts of Violence Jack have been scanlated and to be honest I don't think I want to see this one published in English any time soon.
@JJ: It's cool just because of the camp.
@Yukiko Forever!: This is the one where he throws a heli. Or he pulls a helicopter down from the sky with a rope.
It HAS been a while
@zytroop then perhaps I do have this one . . . I have 2 out of the 3(?) Manga entertainment VHS releases of the Violence Jack OVA . . . but because of that as I said on your latest post neither are uncut :( . . . I agree though the camp is what I live for, Go Nagai is a god . . .
